Dr. Hiresha Verma is an acclaimed Indian entrepreneur, social innovator, and agritech leader. She is known for transforming rural livelihoods through science-driven and women-led enterprise. As the Founder & CEO of Han Agrocare LLP and MD of Hi Shroomz, she pioneered the commercial cultivation of medicinal mushrooms in India and built one of the country’s strongest grassroots networks for women empowerment through entrepreneurship.
Driven by the belief that “Nothing is Impossible for a Willing Heart,” she has positively impacted the lives of 5,000+ women, tribals, and landless farmers, enabling them to become financially independent and confident leaders in their communities.
In 2013, devastating floods in Uttarakhand changed everything. Thousands of women lost their livelihoods overnight, and the demand wasn’t for help — it was for a sustainable source of income and independence.
At that time, Dr. Verma was running a successful IT and outsourcing business. But instead of returning to “business as usual,” she searched for a solution that could survive disasters and empower women long-term.
She began her journey with only ₹2,000 and 25 bags of mushroom spawn, transforming a small room into a learning lab. After repeated trials, she achieved her first successful harvest — and that became the beginning of a women-led rural entrepreneurship revolution.
She later trained at ICAR – Directorate of Mushroom Research, Solan, and started building systems, training programs, and an enterprise model that made rural women successful entrepreneurs.
